Tomsk, Siberia, Russia. Snow! And a flurry of preaching "It's snowing!" says Goswami Maharaj as he opens the curtain of the big double-glazed window in our room. I jump up and run over to the window. Snow! It's beautiful! Different shapes and sizes — so fluffy and delicate! Swirling around, dancing, pirouetting. Goswami Maharaj (who used to live in New York) says nonchalantly: "This is a what's known as a flurry." I'm going to be fifty in three weeks and this is the first time that I have seen it snowing. I saw snow for the first time when I arrived in Moscow, but I have never seen it snowing. I feast my optic orbs (as Dexter would say) on the novel sight. Now this is what I expect Siberia to be like. At six o'clock we go to another program that the local devotees have arranged at the Aelita Theater. We just had a program here yesterday, it's a Monday evening (a workday) but still we draw about a hundred people. Goswami Maharaj (who was interviewed here yesterday by "Open TV") is interviewed again — this time by TV2, a Russian commercial TV channel. So many people are interested — so much preaching. The people of Russia are so hungry for spiritual knowledge! |
