Tomsk, Siberia, Russia. Modern Monks Itinerant and internet savvy Bhakti Sudhir Goswami Maharaj has a live interview at the Russian "Ether TV" studio this morning. He will appear on their morning program, "Fast Forward," at ten o'clock. Tomsk is a terrific place for preaching — this is Goswami Maharaj's third TV interview in three days! At 9:45 a.m. I accompany a dozen devotees about a block to Jaganmata Devi Dasi's apartment to watch the interview. The temperature outside is 5°C (41°F) — a nice, warm Siberian morning. The show starts off well enough: the interviewer, Andre, says that Goswami Maharaj does not look like the stereotype of a wandering monk — an old guy with a long white beard and a stick... Goswami Maharaj: "Yes, nowadays we travel the internet, and instead of a stick, we have a laptop computer under our arm." Great preaching! Later that afternoon, Goswami Maharaj performs a harinama ritvik initiation on behalf of Srila Govinda Maharaj, initiating Sulalita Devi Dasi into the chanting of the holy name. |
