Since it's a full moon day, most of the devotees here in the Math shave their heads. It is the first time that I have shaved my head since taking sannyas two months ago. Gopal Prabhu will act as the barber today, and as everyone changes into their gumchas, I elect to go first. I do not particularly like the look of the razor (one of those old-fashioned safety razor contraptions that my dad used to use way back in the 60's) and am about to suggest that he use my more modern made-in-the-USA-so-you-know-it's-good Gillette disposable, but, remembering Goswami Maharaj's advice, "Don't always try to do things the western way in India," I keep my mouth shut. To my surprise, the "old contraption" works remarkably well. In fact, if we had used the Gillette, it would have probably clogged up. Whaddaya know? I wonder where I can get one of those... |
