Kolkata, West Bengal, India

Visiting Gurudeva

At the medical center

Srila Gurudeva has been feeling a little tired after returning from his six-week 20th World Tour — to London, Milan, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow — so yesterday he checked himself in to a modern, Western-style medical center here in Calcutta.

This will give Srila Gurudeva a chance to take a complete rest — something it is almost impossible for him to do here in India where he is always involved in the day-to-day affairs and running of the various temples and ashrams...

Some of us go to visit him at the medical center today. I am impressed by how nice and clean and orderly the place is.

Srila Gurudeva is happy to see us. He delights in showing us around the spacious suite that he is in: it has one of those adjustable beds, whatever they're called (the one's they're always advertising on those late-night infomercials on American TV), a sofa and chairs, a little table, cable TV, and an en suite bathroom. Nice!

We don't want to tire Srila Gurudeva, so we stay long. His stay here is doing him good: he already looks so much better.
