Amarendranath Prabhu (tour coordinator), Ashutosha Krishna Prabhu (tour translator), Igor (our driver) and I make a terrible start on my first lecture tour by car: we get lost within five minutes of the temple, and then we get on the M2 to Kiev instead of the M6 to Tambov.
Two and a half hours after we started our journey — after making our way on wet, bumpy, dangerous, narrow, single-lane, two-way traffic roads, across the M4 to the M6 — we finally get on the right road to Tambov.
Seven hours after we left Moscow, we arrive, after dark, in Tambov, a little after five o' clock — and promptly get lost again! I am a little, shall we say, irritable.
But all's well that ends well, as they say, and our hosts in Tambov, Anirudha Prabhu and his wife Valeriya, make us feel quite at home in their apartment.
At six o' clock I give a lecture at the Modern Cinema Theater. The lecture is held in the foyer of the theater, and with life-size cutouts of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets serving as a backdrop, I speak about the most confidential secret of all (raja-guhyam): Krishna consciousness.
The small, interested audience of about twenty asks many questions (one elderly gentleman, Leonid, requests initiation) and I end up speaking for three hours. This is what I have come for: to inspire others with the Krishna conception of divinity, as explicated by my gurudevas.
