Today is Srutasrava Prabhu's birthday. Srutasrava Prabhu has been my good friend and well-wisher ever since we met in 1984. It is in no small part due to his mercy, friendship, and expert guidance in the practical application of our Krishna consciousness philosophy, that I have had the courage to take such a big risk: to throw myself into the infinite, to try to serve Srila Gurudeva.
From the earliest days, Srutasrava Prabhu has always sought ways to draw me out, to somehow engage me in the service of Srila Gurudeva, by eliciting my meager layout and proofreading talents in the publication of Vaishnava Toshani for many years, and more recently, getting me to collaborate on the latest book by Srila Gurudeva, Bhagavat Darshan—Revelation Not Speculation.
Srutasrava Prabhu's philosophical acumen, his deep level of penetration into the siddhanta — his understanding of what is what — and his sage advice in the months leading up to my entering into the sannyas ashram, helped to prepare me for that terrifying step: to abandon caution and boldly enlist in the service of that great general in the war against maya, Srila Govinda Maharaj.
My aimless life has become so auspicious by having Srutasrava Prabhu as my well-wishing friend, mentor, guardian, and protector. Happy birthday Srutasrava Prabhu!
