Kolkata, India

Home

Back with Srila Gurudeva

Delhi is fogged in, so my Jet Airways flight to Kolkata is delayed two hours, and then another two hours, finally taking off at ten o' clock, when visibility is at the required 350 meters. I'm tired; I nod off before the meal is served, after the meal is served, and after the plates are cleared.

It is a short flight; we land at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose domestic airport (what's wrong with just calling it the plain old Kolkata domestic airport?) a few minutes before midday. Srutasrava Prabhu and Yudhamanyu Prabhu, along with the newly initiated Nilamani Prabhu and Devaki Mayi Devi Dasi, are there to meet me.

By the time we get to the Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha, the temple in Dum Dum Park, Srila Gurudeva is already resting, so I go to my room, drop off my things, and then come down to take some prasadam. At three o' clock in the afternoon I go up to Srila Gurudeva's room to get his darshan.

I offer my full dandavat pranams to Srila Gurudeva and he gets up and embraces me. He asks me how I am and how all the devotees in Russia are doing. I give a very brief report on some of the highlights of my four-month tour of Russia and the Ukraine.

Srila Gurudeva is especially pleased to hear news about the new center that we have in Zaporizhzhya and the activities of the devotees there. The loss of sleep is starting to catch up to me; Srila Gurudeva excuses me and I go up to my room to get some rest.
