Kolkata, India

Coming and Going

Srutasrava Prabhu leaves

Srutasrava Prabhu will leave Kolkata to return to San Jose, California, later tonight. It seems like everyone is leaving: Yudhamanyu Prabhu on Sunday, and now four days later, Srutasrava Prabhu leaves. Nobody is ever keen to leave the lotus feet of Srila Gurudeva, but duty calls.

Of course, many other devotees are also beginning to arrive for the big Gaura Purnima festival in Nabadwip next month. Devotees have started arriving from Australia (with more expected soon) and a contingent of fifteen devotees from Hungary is scheduled to arrive within a day or two.

Srutasrava Prabhu returns to the United States on Aeroflot, via Delhi and Moscow. He does not have the best of flight schedules, with a six-hour layover in Delhi, and another five hours in Moscow, then on to San Francisco, with one more stop in Seattle.

A little after seven, Srutasrava Prabhu takes leave of Srila Gurudeva, and all the devotees and his family (Sanatani, Shuggie, Neela and Devaki) gather by the front gate in the dark of the early evening to see him off in the little yellow and black taxi that will take him to the airport...
