Maha Prasadam Feast

Installation festival at Kaikhali

Today is the anniversary of the installation of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Ramanasundarjiu at our second the Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha in Kaikhali, Kolkata.

Sripad Bhakti Dayita Damodar Maharaj and the devotees of the Kaikhali Math invite Srila Gurudeva and all the devotees at the Math in Dum Dum Park to attend the grand installation festival to be held there today.

The Kaikhali Math is not too far away, about eight kilometers (five miles) up the road, near the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose international airport. After breakfast, the devotees are ferried between the two Maths in the big Tata Sumo (India's answer to the SUV) by Jayadev Prabhu.

The temple is beautifully decorated with flowers, mango leaves, and banana leaves. We begin by singing kirtans glorifying Guru, Vaishnava, and Krishna. Srila Gurudeva arrives a little later and, after some more kirtan, gives a brief talk about the installation of the deities and about the glories of maha-prasadam.

After the noon arati, we all sit down to a fabulous prasadam feast: rice and dahl, sak, three different subjis, cauliflower pakoras, fried eggplant, tomato chutney, sweet rice, and two other delicious sweets I could not identify.
