Four New Sannyasis

Another momentous day

Today is another momentous day. A year and a day after Sripad Bhakti Vijay Trivikrama Maharaj and I were blessed by Srila Gurudeva and given entrance into the tridandi-sannyas renounced order here at the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math on the banks of the holy Ganges River in the village of Nabadwip dham in West Bengal, Srila Gurudeva accepts four new sannyasi disciples.

After breakfast, in a simple ceremony upstairs in Srila Gurudeva's room, the four new initiates receive the confidential sannyas mantra from Srila Gurudeva, as well as the traditional sannyas danda (staff) and sannyas vesha (cloth).

The four new sannyasis are: Mukunda Prabhu, from England, who becomes Bhakti Sampat Madhusudan Maharaj; Nara Narayan Prabhu, from Mauritius, who becomes Bhakti Nandan Narayan Maharaj; Arun Krishna Prabhu, from Kolkata, who becomes Bhakti Shobhan Jitendriya Maharaj; and Jagadananda Prabhu, from Nabadwip, who becomes Bhakti Amrita Sagar Maharaj.

After being instructed on their duties and obligations as sannyasis by Srila Gurudeva, the four new sannyasis are taken downstairs to the samadhi-mandir of Srila Guru Maharaj to conclude the sannyas ceremony by participating in an elaborate fire-yajna (sacrifice) presided over by Sripad Bhakti Kiran Giri Maharaj and Sripad Bhakti Amal Paramahamsa Maharaj.
