So I get a call from Lucille late yesterday afternoon saying that she's back. (She had taken the weekend off for her birthday and gone gallivanting somewhere up in northern California.)
Since I had to come to San Jose today anyway, to take my PowerBook in to the Apple store to have the DVD/CD drive repaired, I hitched a ride with Srutasrava Prabhu after the Sunday feast in Soquel, and stopped by her apartment late yesterday evening to see her and the twins, and to wish her a happy birthday.
All the kids that I have seen seem to have grown and matured so rapidly since I was last here a year ago, so I expected to see a much taller Maya and Michaela, but they seemed the same to me, although they had filled out a little. They used to be as skinny as Twiggy. (Hands up all those who remember her.)
It was good to see the family again. The twins were a teensy-weensy bit shy, seeing their old Papa dressed as a maharaj for the first time, but when I brought out all the souvenirs that I have gotten for them in all the countries that I have visited, all traces of timidity vanished.
It was getting late and the kids had school the next day (they were already up way past their bedtime) so I returned to Srutasrava Prabhu's house and spent the night in his outbuilding.
I dropped the PowerBook off this morning, and it was fixed by this afternoon. It is Srutasrava Prabhu's daughter, Rasarajani's birthday today (be aware of the Ides of March). She drives up from Soquel to spend the evening with the family, and I hitch a ride back to Soquel with her.
