Kolkata, India

Seva Vikram

Valiant service

Yudhamanyu Prabhu Seva Vikram has been here in Kolkata at the lotus feet of Srila Gurudeva for the past month. Today he leaves the Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha to return to — China!

Srila Gurudeva is extremely pleased with his service. It is incredible that in the short while that Yudhamanyu Prabhu has been in China, so many students have come forward to try to engage in devotional service.

But then Yudhamanyu Prabhu has the reputation of being an intrepid pioneer in Krishna consciousness. Witness this excerpt about his erstwhile activities in South Africa, from the Maha Mandal World News, the now defunct newsletter first published by the Guardian of Devotion Press in mid 1983:

"On the frontlines in Johannesburg, South Africa, Yudhamanyu Prabhu is battling maya with a devastating weapon: The Search for Sri Krishna. Yudhamanyu Prabhu, who has already opened a temple in Johannesburg, and who donated almost the entire printing cost for the first edition [of this book], moves into the streets and malls of this African city, armed with a heavy shoulder bag loaded with powerful books. Aiming at the intelligent class of men, he opens up on the crowd, nectarizing the population with ten or twenty books an hour."

Srutasrava Prabhu and I accompany Yudhamanyu Prabhu to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose international airport to see him off his flight to south-central China, via Bangkok. Bon voyage and bon chance Yudhamanyu Prabhu!
