Kolkata, India

It's Over

Kolkata Book Fair ends

The Kolkata Book Fair ended yesterday. After attending one of the largest book fairs in the world for eleven of the past twelve days, it seems a little odd not to have somewhere to go to today...

In the last two weeks, thousands of fairgoers have thronged through our tremendously popular bookstall at the Maidan, the large public park in downtown Kolkata at the corner of Chowringhee Road and Outram Road.

Tirtha Maharaj (our organizer), Tridandi Maharaj (who attends every year), Yudhamanyu Prabhu, Aravinda Lochan Prabhu, Bhakta Krishna Prabhu, Ramananda Prabhu (from Brazil), Jagamohini Devi Dasi, Saci Devi Dasi and her daughter, Pandita Devi Dasi, and many other devotees diligently worked at the book stall every day, selling the books of our gurudevas, and explaining our philosophy to all.

Last year, an estimated two-and-a-half million people attended the Kolkata Book Fair, making it the most important literary event in the country. I wonder what the total is this year?
