Ekachakra, India — Thursday, April 29th

Ekachakra revisited

Early this morning, before breakfast, about twelve of us accompany Srila Acharya Maharaj on the four-hour journey to our new temple at Lord Nityananda Prabhu's birthplace in Ekachakra.

The last time I went to Ekachakra with Srila Acharya Maharaj was a couple of days after Srila Gurudeva's Vyasa Puja in December 2008. The roads are in a little better condition this time, but not by much.

On the way, we stop at Srila Guru Maharaj's birthplace, at our temple in Hapaniya, for breakfast (kitchuri and brinjal pakoras). We arrive in Ekachakra in time for lunch, and in the late afternoon, we take a stroll down to the main road with Srila Acharyadev, stopping to offer our obeisances at the temple built on the spot where Lord Nityananda Prabhu was born.

This is where Srila Guru Maharaj came, so many years ago, to get permission from Lord Nityananda Prabhu before establishing the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in Sri Navadwip dhamto remind us that nothing should be done whimsically, and to show us that everything in Krishna consciousness is regulated, so before making a major decision like deciding to live in the holy dham, it is first necessary to get the permission and the grace of the Dhamesvara or Lord of the Dham, Sri Nityananda Prabhu.

A little further down the road, we go into the Iskcon temple courtyard to offer our respects to the life-size murti of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj Prabhupad that they have there, before returning to our own temple for the evening arati.
